The Women’s Training and Participatory Planning on Community Media for Peacebuilding

July 21, 2022 l The Office of MP Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph through its Women Sectoral Representative, Ms. Hassana H. Malic attended and participated in the Women’s Training and Participatory Planning on Community Media for Peacebuilding conducted by Initiative for Dialogue Empowerment Legal Services (IDEALS) Inc.

The participatory planning and training aim to increase awareness of gender issues that are especially prevalent in BARMM and foster a deeper understanding of women’s rights to surface and validate issues at the community level; to learn the basic “whys and hows” of community media production and its relevance to peace, and to incorporate the learnings into pilot media production.

Among the topics are Women and Community Media: The Whys and Hows of Promoting Peace through Media Productions, presented by Prof. Sorhaila Latip-Yusoph, the Director of the Meranaw Cultural Heritage Center of Mindanao State University-Marawi City.

Gender Issues in Barmm: Women’s Rights and Participation for Peace, presented by Sittie Nur Dayhanna S. Mohammad, the Project Officer of Al-Mujadilah Development and Training Foundation, Inc.

20 female participants are from Lanao del Sur Province, of varying ages, ethnicities, and religions.
