November 22, 2021| The Office of Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph conducted a Hybrid Focused-Group Discussion (FGD) on the BTA Bill No. 32, entitled “An act creating the Ranao Development Authority, prescribing its powers and functions and appropriating funds therefor”.

This was held at BTA Executive Lounge, BARMM Complex, Cotabato City and was participated by Ranao Members of Parliament.

MP Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph, MP Musa Diamla, and representative from the Office of Chief Minister, Nasrudin Yusof were physically present. Other ranaw members of parliament were also present via zoom meeting.

This activity composes the Presentation of the BTA-Bill No. 32 which seeks to create the Ranaw Development Authority; Presentation of the manifestation of support signed by various offices, organizations, and institutions; and Present the summary report of the “Siyap ko Ranaw Consultation in Aid of Legislation”.

BTA-Bill No. 32 seeks to create the Ranao Development Authority as the agency that will be the lead institution to manage the development, utilization and preservation of Lake Lanao. The Authority shall create the framework and plan designed to protect, conserve, rehabilitate and develop the lake.

The discussion highlighted the presentation of the summary report during the Siyap Ko Ranaw Consultation in Aid of Legislation conducted last July 3, 2021. Among the issues and concerns mentioned are Endemic Cyprinid Species, Watershed Deforestation, Solid Waste Management, Health Risks and Water Pollution.

“There is no legislation both national and local that is being implemented to take care of the most important resource of Bangsamoro which is the Lake Lanao. Why do I say that it is the most important? Two-third of the entire electricity supply of Mindanao Island is coming from the Ranaw.”, said by MP Atty. Maisara

“If we do not take care of our lake, its rehabilitation, conservation and preservation, time will come that we will no longer be able to give our children and our future generation the beauty of the lake.”, she added

“Lake Lanao is not only for the Meranaw. It is for the entire country and even in other country who are making use of the product produced by industries who made use of the electricity generated by the National Power Corporation.”, said by MP Musa

“The importance of this would be the preservation, protection, conservation, develop and utilization of the lake. Lake has given a lot of Social, Political, and cultural importance.”, he added
