ATM: The Committee on Health approved Proposed Resolution 311 authored by MP Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph, Directing the Ministry of Health (MOH) to Develop Information and Communication Materials, such as infographics, webinars, and commercials, among others, on COVID-19 in the major local languages of the Bangsamoro Region.
Deputy Minister Abbas of the Ministry of Health expressed his commitment that the Ministry of Health would be implementing the directives of the resolution. MP Maisara Latiph stated that the approved resolution would be a show of commitment on the part of the Parliament to be more involved in the information campaign on COVID-19, and that translating the current and future information materials in the local language would be a step-up, and help in raising awareness and effectiveness of communication.
The Committee on Health also approved Proposed Resolution 324 on investigating the drastic increases of COVID-19 cases among frontliners and healthcare workers at the Datu Sakilan Memorial Hospital (DHSM) in Tawi-Tawi. The objective of the resolution would be to conduct an inquiry in aid of legislation to prevent further instances of such outbreaks, especially among our frontliners and healthcare workers.
Proposed Committee Resolution No. 01 of the Committee on Health directing the Committee on Accounts and Audit to consider in the budget appropriation resources needed for the health requirements of the BTA members and providing for a necessary structure thereof was also based on MP Latiph’s proposed resolution calling for COVID testing for employees of the Bangsamoro Parliament. The Proposed Committee Resolution was approved as Committee Resolution No. 1.
The Committee also tackled Parliament Bill No. 9 An Act Creating the Bangsamoro Regional Commission on Population Management and Development.
