March 23, 2022 | The Committee on Basic, Higher, and Technical Education convened today to conduct its regular meeting for the calendar year of 2022, held at the BPDA Meeting Room 2 and via Zoom Teleconference.
Present are MP Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr., MP Baintan A. Ampatuan, MP Susana S. Anayatin, MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun – Latiph and other members of the committee.
The meeting highlights the discussion of the Deliberation of the Referred Proposed Bills; BTA Bill No. 150, entitled: “An Act Establishing And Constructing A Bangsamoro Medical School In Cotabato City To Be Known As Bangsamoro Medical School” and BTA Bill No. 158, entitled: “A Bill Creating The Bangsamoro Regional Academy. Repealing Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act No. 164, Otherwise Known As The Regional Madrasah Graduate Education Act Of 2003. Providing Funds Therefore, And For Other Purposes.”, as well as other matters.
The committee members approved the formation of a technical working group to further discuss the BTA Bill No. 150, which strives to establish and build a Bangsamoro Medical School in Cotabato City that seeks to provide an accessible, affordable, comprehensive, and rewarding medical education for the young Bangsamoro people.
In addition, they agreed to hold a series of public consultations for BTA Bill No 158, so called the Bangsamoro Regional Academy Bill of 2021, which suggests instituting a Madrasah that will equip baccalaureate and postgraduate courses in Islamic and Arabic studies.
Said Kuliyyah institution will be built in Buluan, Maguindanao, and will foster research, advanced studies, and progressive leadership in its specialized areas. It will revoke the Regional Madrasah Graduate Education Act of 2003.
