The Bangsamoro Transition Authority, through the Committee on Labor and Employment, started the conduct of public consultations for the proposed Bangsamoro Labor Code.
Romeo Sema, chair of the COLE, said that the consultation aims to gather comments, position papers, and concerns on the proposed code.
According to MP Sema, the committee intends to institutionalize a labor code that will establish labor standards and reasonable working conditions for employees in the region.
As the minister also of the labor and employment ministry, he said that “it is the commitment of the MOLE to continuously provide and promote gainful, inclusive, and genuinely equal employment opportunities to every Bangsamoro.”
Among the suggestions and recommendations of those who attended the consultation are ensuring employer compliance for implementing the new minimum wage rate and securing the protection for both employers and employees.
MP Sema also encouraged them to submit their position papers on November 22.
Also present in the consultation were representatives from Office of the Bangsamoro Parliament members Atty. Maisara Latiph, Ali Salik, and Mussolini Lidasan. (Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
