ICYMI| Last October 2 and 3, 2019, the Office of Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun Latiph in partnership with Marawi Tourism Social Enterprises (MTSE) gathered different youth organizations in Lanao del Sur and Marawi City at MSU-CHARM Pavilion.
The program was entitled, “Social Enterprise Conference 2019 or SECon2019.
SECon2019 is a two-day event for youth participants. Around 131 youth participants attended this event. They are social entrepreneurs (SEs) representing 42 local businesses, civil society organizations, and government agencies.
This program aimed to promote social enterprise by recognizing the initiatives of different youth organizations who participated in this event.
This also aimed to let the participants learn techniques and deepen their understanding on the role of SEs in promoting peace, protecting the planet, improving the quality of lives of marginalized sectors and ensuring profit and sustainability.
Part of the program is to intensify the search for Meranao Social Entrepreneurs who are delivering people, social, economic, financial, and environmental outcomes.
Participants came up with their SE ideas and actions plans to begin transforming their business ideas into a social enterprise.
In a statement, MP Maisara said that “Our office is committed to investing in people empowerment, clean environment for our planet and long-lasting peace in BARMM. We are committed to providing different capacity building for the benefit of our constituents and in making a businesses that is socially responsible. Because of continuing poverty, worsening inequality, continuing environmental degradation and failure of many governments to resolve poverty and environmental degradation, we invest in social entrepreneurship. First, in a social sense, PEACE means absence of war and conflict, and freedom from fear of violence between individuals or groups, so in our social enterprise, we can use this concept of societal friendship and harmony in our social community.”
