A team of environmental actors climbed the mountain and conducted an assessment on August 10 to enact the Law on the Protection and Conservation of Sacred Mountain National Park in Marawi.
Composing the team was the office of MP. Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph, representative of the Watershed Management Department of the National Power Corporation, Mindanao State University’s Department of Forestry and Environment (MSU-CFES), Marawi City and barangay local government units, and the regional office of Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy (MENRE) of Lanao del Sur.
This activity was aimed at documenting the vulnerabilities of the mountain and establishing policies for development and conservation. Predominantly 900-foot Mount Mu Po The 94-hectare Sacred Mountain National Park is located in Barangay, Guimba and Papandayan. It was established as a national park on August 5, 1965 by Republic Law No. 4190.
