Social Services and Development Minister Atty. Raisa Jajurie said that her ministry will ensure to defend the rights and social protection of Bangsamoro children against all forms and conditions prejudicial to their development.
“We also assure that all policies and projects that support the children in the region will be implemented,” Jajurie said during an Online Conversation on the Commitments of the Bangsamoro Government to the Bangsamoro Children’s Declaration held Friday, Nov.27 in the city.
According to Jajurie, MSSD has the following programs and projects that support the children and youth in the Bangsamoro:
1. Angat Bangsamoro: Kabataan Tungo sa Karunungan (ABK) which provides financial aid for indigent students to cover school-related expenses such as school supplies, books, school projects, internet/data load, and other related expenses.
To date, students from 10 municipalities of Lanao del Sur B have already received assistance from this program. 1,800 elementary students received Php1,000 each, 1,200 high school students received Php1,500 each, while 720 college students each received Php10,000.
2. Kupkop Program: Financial Assistance for Orphans shall provide orphaned children with the chance to have better condition in life by addressing their basic needs for food, clothing, good health, and education.
MSSD targeted more than 9,000 orphans across the region to receive Php5,000 aid monthly.
3. Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) which provides meals for Child Developments Centers (CDC) for 120 days in a year.
“We want to continue same programs in 2021 dahil sa nakikita namin, natumbok namin iyong mga pangangailangan ng mga kabataan lalo na pagdating sa edukasyon at medical health needs, we will try to reach more beneficiaries. In Shaa Allah,” Jajurie said.
