Sacred Mountain National Park is a national park in Marawi, Lanao del Sur in Southern Philippines.
The National Park and protected area in the Barangays of Guimba and Papandayan was established on August 5, 1965, by Republic Act no. 4190.
The park is dominated by Mount Mupo, a tall extinct volcano with a lofty cone.
Activities in the park include birdwatching and trekking to the mountaintop.
This activity aims to monitor, assess, and strengthen the importance of mountain biodiversity, water, clean air, research, cultural diversity, leisure, landscape, and spiritual values.
Noaisa, one of the volunteers said, “Joining this activity is one way of giving back to our nature. If we know how to utilize the resources coming from it, then we will live a more prosperous life.”
“This activity should broaden its scope to different sectors so that everyone can take part in preserving and maintaining the beauty of our nature, just like here in mount Mopu.” She added.
The visit was also conducted to assess potential disturbances aside from raising environmental awareness and protection.
