Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph, served as a Guest Speaker during the 11th episode on the Prospects of the Bangsamoro Women’s Agenda for 2022–2025, entitled “Bangsamoro Women’s Agenda 2022–2025: Laban o Bawi?”.
The objective of this episode is to surface spaces for engagement and opportunities for women and the women’s agenda in the Bangsamoro. The episode aims to share previous gains and achievements, and plans for Bangsamoro Women until 2025.
This is the WEAct 1325, together with Oxfam sa Pilipinas, implementing project phase 2 of the Women’s Empowerment for Leadership in Development and Peace in the Bangsamoro (WELD-Peace) Project. The three main outcomes of the project are (1) strengthening women’s voices and gender-responsive governance in the BARMM; (2) advancing women’s economic empowerment at the local and regional levels; and (3) fostering a culture of gender equality and diversity in the Bangsamoro.
During the sharing of MP Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph, she highlighted and discussed the Bangsamoro Women’s Agenda 2022-2025 with the following:
-Women’s Empowerment and Participation in Decision-making, Development, and Peace-Building.
-Pass the Gender and Development (GAD) Code in BTA-Parliament.
-Drafting and Launching the Bangsamoro Women Regional Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security (RAP-WPS) for 2022-2025 with the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC).
-Consultation and dialogue with women for better change (both at regional and local level).
-Engage with training, workshops, seminars, consultations, and FGD with potential stakeholders.
-Strenghten the localization/implementation of Anti-GVB/VAWC/VAC/Trafficking Laws.
-Launching the Results of the Sectoral Consultation towards the Formulation of the Gender, Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), and
-Legislate a Youth Code.
Also, she shared the gains and achievements of women since the establishment of BARMM and the mechanisms that women in and outside the Bangsamoro government can engage in to contribute and push forward women’s agenda in BARMM.
The Honorable Member of Parliament believes that the active participation of women is very important in peace and development because it enables them to confidently and meaningfully engage with appropriate institutions to ensure that they contribute to and benefit from development and changes. Thus, women’s participation will make the change that we are spousing or any development effort responsive to women’s concerns.
The episode will be premiered live on August 4, 2022 on the @WEAct 1325 Facebook page, hosted by Ms. Carmen Lauzon-Gatmaytan.
