Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph together with other members of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority have filed a resolution directing the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE) together with the Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) to address the youth unemployment in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Espicially in the Province of Lanao del Sur.
The proposed measure in in response to the issues and concerns mentioned during conducted series of youth consultations that was attended by the different offices and agencies, youth organizations and youth leaders from the city and remote areas of Lanao del Sur that was held between October 2021 and January 2022.
Youth leaders insist that the Minister of Labor and Employment (MOLE) and Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) must willfully oversee this youth unemployment as a problem.
One of the attendees shared that youth unemployment is one of the factors why many young people can be easily recruited by these extremist groups and why they are prone to be involved in illegal activities.
Youth students also encourage the MOLE to invest more in the right skills for jobs in demand in linking educational curricula to labor market demands.
The Youth organizations in Lanao del Sur are calling the attention of the Members of Parliament, the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MOLE), Bangsamoro Youth Commission (BYC) and other concerned entities to address this youth unemployment as a special concern of the region.
The said measure has been referred to the Committee on Labor and Employment.
