On July 28, 2022, The Bangsamoro Parliament has begun deliberations on the committee report of proposed BTA Bill No. 32, which would establish the Ranao Development Authority.
During the interpellation period, MP Maisara Dandamun-Latiph, one of the main authors of the proposed bill, emphasized the need for an integrated agency to lead and protect the region’s water resources.
Under the proposed measure, Ranaw Development Authority is an independent regulatory and quasi-legislative body that will protect, conserve, rehabilitate, and develop Lake Lanao.
The proposed bill is in pursuance to the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) which states that the Bangsamoro Government shall protect, conserve, rehabilitate and develop inland water resources, including Lake Lanao and its surrounding environments, watersheds, water tributaries, forests, and agriculture.
