MP Latiph attended the public consultation on the proposed BTA Parliament Bill No. 53

March 21, 2022 | The Office of MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph attended the public consultation on the proposed BTA Parliament Bill No. 53 also known as the Bangsamoro Sustainable Development Board Act of 2020, that shall create the Bangsamoro Sustainable Development Board, held at the BTA Executive Lounge and via Zoom teleconference.

Stakeholders were invited to provide feedback, recommendations, and legislative input into the proposed bill that was principally authored by Senior Minister MP Abdulraof A. Macacua, that aims to integrate and harmonize economic, social, and environmental considerations as vital aspects of sustainable development policy and practice in the Bangsamoro Region.

Undersecretary Jonas Leones pointed out that the Board is responsible not only for monitoring and reviewing policies, but should also make recommendations for its improvement.

MP Engr. Baintan Adil-Ampatuan, the principal co-author of the proposed measure, stated that they have already gathered significant inputs, listened to public opinions, suggestions, and recommendations, especially from the government partners and other stakeholders on further improving the proposed bill.

The chair of the technical working group, MP Atty. Raisa H. Jajurie, stated that the TWG will send in a report for the Committee on Rules, which has the responsibility to deliberate on the proposed measure, including all recommendations derived from the public consultations and policy papers received.

Attendees of the said consultation are Non-Government Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, Development Partners, Tribal and Ulama Leaders, Private Sector, National Agencies, Regional Agencies, Experts, Academe Sector, CSOs and other concerned stakeholders across the region that took part in the first and second public consultation on the BTA Bill No. 53 or the Bangsamoro Sustainable Development Board (BSDB) dated on the 17th and 21st day of March 2022.
