First of all, I would like to Congratulate Ma’am Samaona Unda for her well-deserved appointment as the Commissioner of Lanao del Sur by the Bangsamoro Women Commission. It is also a pleasure to know that this event is graced by the presence of my fellow Members of Parliament MP Atty. Anna Tarhata Basman and MP Dr. Marjanie Mimbantas. It is an honor and privilege to be a part of today’s event the “Culmination of the Women’s Month Celebration and Kick-off Ceremony for Ramadhan Program”. This is an opportunity to be with you and reaffirm our pledge of commitment and express our wish for continued collaboration for the betterment and welfare of women within and outside the region.
Our Office champions women sectoral issues and concerns including their welfare, health, safety, and security. I managed to file and support bills, resolutions, policy briefs and other write-ups that tackles different issues in the women agenda. The women sector is one of my chosen areas of focus on my journey as an MP to be able to help in addressing major issues at the BTA Parliament during the sessions, as well as in our various programs. One of the flagship programs of my office in the field of women is the Women Empowerment and Livelihood Initiative for Peace (WELiveforPeace). The participants are widows and war-widows. Today, I am committing myself to do all that I can and to support your organization as much as I can.
Just recently, on March 29, we awarded the winners of our program entitled “Search for Women Advocates 2021 in the Province of Lanao del Sur”, a program that showcases the vital role of women by recognizing their great contributions in our community, in Lanao del Sur. Its main objective is to recognize the great contributions of women advocates in our community for their advocacy works and to recognize the Bangsamoro Women as part of policy-making in peace and community-building for the betterment of the Bangsamoro people. The awardees were great women who are known for their volunteerism and advocacy work in Six (6) categories which are the Gender and Development, Education, IDPs, Youth, Environment, and Children. Our awardees are incredible role models. They serve as an inspiration across the region and generations.
In support of this Kick-off Program for Ramadhan, let us celebrate the month of Ramadhan by beginning here. Only a few more days to go and In Shaa Allah, it will already be the first day of the Holy Month of Ramadhan and every one of us are excited to experience it. May Allah bless us and our families in this holy month with hearts filled with peace, harmony, and joy. May the holy spirit of Ramadhan spark in our hearts and guide us.
Ramadhan takes us on a spiritual journey that ends right at the door of Allah where what dwells is His endless mercy and immeasurable happiness. I would like to end my support message in today’s event, wishing everyone a prosperous day and advance Happy Ramadhan. Ramadhan Mubarak!
