Message of MP Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph on International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is observed every year on March 8 declared by the United Nation in order to promote Gender equality and to ensure the right of women in our society. This day is symbolic of the historic journey of women around the world have taken to better their lives. It comes as a reminder that while a lot has been achieved, the journey is long and a lot more needs to be done. This special day is global awareness for every woman and girls to recognize the social, economic, cultural, and political achievement, movement and struggles of various women in the world. This is the time to reflect the acts of perseverance, compassion and courage by our fellow women, who have been the makers of change, the molders, peace-builders of future leaders and the nation-builders.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge. It indicates that a “challenged world is an alert world, and from challenge comes change”. As much as we wanted to achieve this global campaign, our women and girls are continuously facing significant challenges in pursuing careers, enable to freely choose their path, equal access to education and other women’s rights. We have not heard any country globally to say and ensure that they have fulfilled completely the equal provisions and help to all women and girls to their area.
To all strong women who battle their various circumstances, hurdles, sacrifices, and compromises they make, I wish them all inner strength and Happy International Women’s Day to all women around the World!
