President Rodrigo Roa Duterte met with Senators Bato Dela Rosa, Bong Go, Imee Marcos, Francis Tolentino and Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) as well as BTA Members MP Maisara Dandamun-Latiph and MP Diamila Ramos-Disimban, Marawi City Mayor Gandamra, Provincial Board Member Atty. Allan Panolong, and CSO leaders from Marawi.
The meeting which lasted five (3.5) hours from 7:00 to 10:30 pm was about the demand of the Marawi City IDP to unconditionally return home as well as the delays in the implementation of Marawi City rehabilitation.
President Duterte stated that starting today he will be closely monitoring the implementation by regularly visiting Marawi City. He also ordered the DBM to expedite the release of funds to prevent further delays.
On the issue of return home, he asked the LGU of Marawi to allow the people access to their homes without restrictions. He also ordered the completion of basic services like water, electricity, and roads within a year.
On the declaration of lots under Military Reservation, he supported the people to have it freed provided that a small land is allocated for the military camp.
Lastly, President Duterte ordered the repair of the Grand Mosque as soon as possible.
MP Maisara reiterated to the President the following:
- Unconditional Right to Return Home
- Restoration of Light, Water, Electricity
- Issuance of Proclamation freeing the lands in Marawi City from Military Reservation
- A commission to study the emotional and psychological healing of the people more than the physical infrastructure.
- BARMM’s commitment to supporting the President in rebuilding Marawi.
- Repair of Mosques destroyed in MAA.
- Declaration of Marawi as Cultural
Heritage site.
