February 22, 2021 | Conversation on IDPs Right to Kambalingan and other issues
The Office of MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph conducted a consultation program for the IDPs of Marawi siege in Aid of Legislation to obtain a deeper understanding on the issues and concerns of the Internally Displaced Persons and explore insights that could address their plight.
The consultation commenced with short and substantive lectures delivered by our invited speakers. Mr. Aslani “Toti” Montila and Sultan sa Marawi Hamidullah Atar, discussed about “The Marawi Rehabilitation: Where are we now”, and “The Marawi IDPs cry for Justice” respectively. Hon. Samira Gutoc was also present during the event wherein she contributed very relevant concerns and insights that are important to consider.
These are the consultation objectives:
A. To obtain a better understanding on the current situation of the IDPs.
B. To assess if the assistance given to the IDPs were appropriate or not.
C. To determine what are the causes of the delay of return of the IDPs to MAA.
D. To gather data that could serve as basis for future policies.
E. To provide a platform where the IDPs could freely voice out their sentiments and recommendations.
F. To aid legislation.
During the consultation proper, invited participants including the speakers expressed their sentiments, raised clarifications and questions, provided suggestions and recommendations – which were documented for policy formulation.
As MP Maisara stated during her welcome remarks, “It is my great honor, it is my great privilege to be with you (IDP participants) today and also for sharing your time with our office so that we can represent you in the BTA Parliament so that we can hear you and we can create together the solution that is acceptable to all of us today,” she added.
Our office would like to thank all of our invitees and speakers for their untiring cooperation during the consultation.
We hope for Allah to guide us in bringing up your voices to the BTA Parliament and Bangsamoro Government.
Remembering The Missing And The Dead: “A Conversation with the Families of Missing and Dead during Marawi siege in Aid of Legislation”
May 23, 2021 | Remembering The Missing And The Dead: “A Conversation with the Families of Missing and Dead during Marawi siege in Aid of Legislation”
The Office of MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph conducted a Focused Group Discussion with the families of missing and dead during Marawi siege. This program is in line with the commemoration of 4th year Marawi siege anniversary. The office also provided a symbolic kambalingan gift package to the participants. The kambalingan gift contains pillow, blanket, broom, dustpan, basket, rice, coffee, coffeemate, salt, biscuit, shampoo, soap, surf powder and zonrox.
This gift symbolizes the resiliency of the IDPs and their unending hope and perseverance to return home.
The aim of the FGD is to give venue to the families of missing and dead in airing their sentiments. Also present is a representative from the Task Force Bangon Marawi, Shariah Counselor Johary B. Lumna.
The families of missing and dead had also visited the maqbara cemetery where marked graves of those who have fallen during the Marawi siege that has not yet identified and named are located.
What happened during Marawi siege will never be forgotten.
The beneficiaries were very grateful that the Office reached out to them.
We would like to thank the representative from Task Force Bangon Marawi, Shariah Counselor Mr. Johary Lumna, The Sultan of Marawi Abdul Hamidullah Atar, and to all of the CSOs, NGOs, agencies and offices that were participated in this 4th year Marawi Siege Anniversary and Commemoration.
In shaa Allah, we will continue our advocacy to extend more help to people who are most in need within or outside the region.
