BANGSAMORO GOVERNMENT CENTER – A year after the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law or the BOL, Cotabato City and the 63 barangays that voted YES to inclusion in the BARMM during the 2019 plebiscite, have been officially turned over to the Bangsamoro Regional Government on December 15, 2020.

DILG Secretary Eduardo M. Año and MILG Minister Naguib Sinarimbo led the turnover of supervision of Cotabato City and 63 barangays from North Cotabato former DILG Regional Office building, properties, and assets, as well as movable properties and records of the DILG Cotabato Field Office.

Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim welcomed Cotabato City and the 63 Barangays of North Cotabato to the BARMM.

“The Bangsamoro Government is pleased and honored to accept the responsibility of supervising Cotabato City and the 63 barangays of North Cotabato as part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao”, he said. “Lahat walang talo, lahat panalo”, Ebrahim added.

He reassured the Bangsamoro People that development will echo in the city and the 63 barangays regardless of faith, ethnicity, affiliation.

“We acknowledge that the political process towards the formal turnover was not easy. There were differences in opinions, principles, and apprehensions that paint a stark contrast to the result of the historic plebiscite”, he said.

“Continuing the lines of division, however, will not help us in making our collective aspirations a reality. As such, there is a need for all of us to come together as one community dedicated to the Bangsamoro’s collective advancement”, he continued.

Chief Minister Ebrahim called on the people to work together in co-creating the Bangsamoro.

“We ask our dear constituents to find commonalities among our differences, choose hope over fear, choose unity over division”, he said.

Meanwhile, Secretary Año ensured that the National Government will continue its support to the Bangsamoro Government.

“We will still work together until you can already walk alone”, he committed.
