The Office of Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun Latiph conducted a consultation with the youth of Lanao del Sur at MSU-IPDM Marawi City.
Various youth organizations and youth-based organizations such as UNYPAD Coastal Lanao, Atslwartz (BISA), Pilumbayan Inc., PHIMSA, Kalilintad sa Lanao, Hijab For A Cause, MSU-Scholars’ Society, Generation of Hope-Ibn Siena, Inspired Young Optimists Guild, Butig Youth Movement for Peace, OKIR-TUAC, BTA-Lanao Chapter, Global Marawi, PYLP-Ranaw, IYOG, Generation of Hope (MoGoHp Tano) have participated in the said consultation.
The consultation involved discussions from the (3) invited resource person.
The first resource person during the consultation was Ms. Namera Comadug of Bangsamoro Youth Commission. She enlightened the youth participants about Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 10: “An Act Creating and Establishing the Bangsamoro Youth Commission, defining its powers, functions and responsibilities, appropriating funds therefor, and for other purposes”.
The second resource person was Zenaida Sanches-Naga of ARTVI who discussed about Developing the potential of Bangsamoro Youth through ALS, livelihood and technical skills training.
The third resource person was Alexander M. Mangondaya of MAFAR-BARMM, Lanao del Sur who have discussed about Developing the Potentials of Bangsamoro Youth Through Agriculture
Key Discussion Areas include (4) categories: Livelihood and Technical Skills, Agriculture, Youth Volunteerism and Advocacy Work.
Youth participants were able share to their issues, concerns, and recommendations on:
1. How to improve the economic situation of the youth;
2. What are the Marketable technical skills of the youth that can support them and make it so they can be employed in private businesses and/or government offices;
3. Recommendations on how to encourage youth participation in agriculture;
4. What are the issues and challenges youth advocates face in their volunteer and community work and how do we address these challenges;
5. Issues and concerns affecting Bangsamoro Youth; and
6. Recommendations on how the Bangsamoro Government may address and solve these issues and concerns.
