January 17, 2022| In support of the kick-off celebration of the 3rd founding anniversary of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). The office of MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun Latiph in partnership with the Ministry of Public Order and Safty (MPOS) has successfully turned over the additional fund for Rido settlement under Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) Project funded by the Bangsamoro Government to the Ten (10) selected municipalities in Lanao Del Sur and Marawi City.
This support is intended to be used in the settlement of existing Rido in the Municipalities of Lumbatan, Butig, Taraka, Lumbayanague, Lumba-bayabao, Pualas, Tugaya, Masiu, and City of Marawi in Lanao del Sur. Each municipality received Php 50,000 that was given to MPOS partner local mediators through the Ranaw Welfare and Reconciliation Committee, Inc. (WARCOM) and distributed in its respective municipal chapters in the target municipalities.
This project aims to achieve the following objectives, wit: To enable the local mediators to effectively perform their Rido settlement endeavors by providing additional funds, therefore; To empower, uplift, and support the local mediators and organizations with their commitment in rido settlements; To support and strengthen their ongoing peacebuilding and conflict resolution initiatives in their respective communities; To advance the aspirations of the Bangsamoro Government and the Members of the Parliament in recognizing and addressing the perennial problems on rido in the Bangsamoro Region; and To establish cooperation and stronger partnership between the Bangsamoro Government, through the MPOS and the partner local mediators and LGUS.
Atty. Al-Rashid L. Balt, Director-General of MPOS-BARMM, Said in his message that the Ministry is very much thankful to MP Latiph for choosing the ministry as one of his partners. He also cited that aside from this assistance, MP Latiph also provided Php 5 million in support in constructing a Peace center in Lanao del Sur from her TDIF.
Mr. Ameroding P. Usman, Executive Director of Ranaw Welfare and Reconciliation Committee, Inc., Said in his acceptance message that Rido has been one of the primary reasons why Lanao province belongs to the least progressive provinces in the Philippines.
In her message delivered by Mr. Jamael M. Sarip, MP Latiph said, “One of the changes that we want to do in BARMM Government is to achieve the long-lasting peace in our region. Kung kaya hindi maipag kakaila ang suporta ng opisina namin sa MPOS sapagkat kami din ay nagkakatulad o nagkakahawig ng ganitong adbokasyang pang kapayapaan.”
“I also believed that this project aims to end the long problem on Rido in our region because I know that we all agree that we don’t want our children, grandchildren, and the next generations to adopt this kind of culture of ours. We want to give them a peaceful environment free from conflicts.” She added
The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) is mandated, under the Bangsamoro Administrative Code, to perform functions relating to peacebuilding, reconciliation, and unification of all the peoples of the region.
