Today, we are one with the celebration of the 3rd Bangsamoro Foundation Day. This 21st day of January 2022 is being celebrated in the whole region. It was stated in the Bangsamoro Administrative Code that the 21st of January proclaimed as the founding anniversary of the Bangsamoro and declared as a non-working holiday in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
This year’s celebration theme is dubbed, “Changing People’s Lives, Transforming the Bangsamoro Celebrating and Sustaining the Gains of Peace and Moral Governance.”
In this day’s culmination, our Office has invited the Samporna Performing Group for the second time to perform Meranaw Traditional Music and Dances.
The group has performed Meranaw cultural dances such as “Kasipa sa Manggis”, “Singkil”, “Sagayan”, and “Kapag-apir”.
“Kulintang” was also perfomed and was used as background music during their show.
“Singkil” is a popular dance performed during celebration. Originally only ladies, especially sovereignty perfom singkil, which fills in as either a cognizant or oblivious notice to expected admirers. The dance takes its name from weighty rings worn on the lower legs of the Muslim princess.
“Pagaper” portrays an imperial way of “strolling” among the Maranao individuals who live principally around Lake Lanao. Women of the imperial court play out this dignified dance in anticipation of a significant occasion.
“Sagayan” is a conflict dance performed by both the Maguindanao and Maranao portraying in sensational style the means their legend, Sovereign Bantugan, took after wearing his weapons, the conflict he battled in and his ensuing triumph a short time later.
“Kasipa sa Manggis” is a traditional game. This game consists many players. This is usually played by “Datus”.
“Kambayok” was also presented by the group to acknowledge the great leadership of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, Chief Minister Ahod Ibrahim, Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph, Bangsamoro Parliament Members, Dr. Habib Macaayong of MSU System, and Dr. Acram Latiph of MSU-IPDM.
