CARE FOR ORPHANS PUBLIC CONSULTATION IN AID OF LEGISLATION IN TAWI-TAWI
June 27, 2021| The Office of MP Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph in partnership with The Asia Foundation and Australian Aid conducted “3rd Care for Orphans Public Consultation in Aid of Legislation” held at RnR Hotel, Sanga-Sanga, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi.
This was attended by 27 number of participants coming from different government offices/ministries, institutions/madrasa, religious and academe sector, CSOs/Non-government organization, and other concerned community leaders.
Among the Offices/Organizations that were present: Notre Dame of Bongao, Mahardika Institute of Technology, Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College, PAO, Office of Provincial Mufti, MAJLIS, Qudwatun Nisail Muslimat, Sali Nudjang Foundation, Inc., Mahad Dar Al-Asar, Inc., Mahad Tawi-Tawi Al-Arabie Al-Islamie, TFLF/Child Fund Philippines, AMBUH-INAH, Tawi-Tawi Provincial Women Council, PSWO, PLGU GAD Tawi-Tawi, MBHTE-BARMM Tawi-Tawi Division, Office of MILG Provincial Director, BCW-BARMM, MSU-TCTO, and Office of Provincial Administrator Tawi-Tawi.
This consultation aims to know more about issues, problems, gaps and challenges and for them to suggest any recommendations/solutions to the BARMM government. This is also in support to the BTA Parliament Bill No. 71, or the Bangsamoro Orphanage Act 2020, and to gather any inputs, suggestions, and amendments to improve the Bill.
The consultation involved the discussion about “Children of War: A Rapid Needs Assessment of Orphans in Muslim Mindanao” that was presented by Sir Hadzer Birowa, Children of War Study Researcher.
BTA Parliament Bill No. 71 or the Bangsamoro Orphanage Act 2020 was also presented by Atty. Alexine Bangcola, Legal Researcher of MP Atty. Maisara Latiph.
The last part of the session is the signing of the partners and stakeholders in the “MANIFESTATION OF SUPPORT FOR THE BANGSAMORO ORPHANAGE ACT 2020”.
“Ang mga Muslim ay may tungkulin na protektahan ang iba mula sa anumang uri ng pinsala o mga kaganapan at tulungan ang mga nangangailangan tulad ng mga ulila. Ang Islam ay nagbigay ng malaking kahalagahan sa pagtulong sa mga nangangailangan at marami pang mga paalala tungkol sa gantimpala para sa pagtulong sa mga ulila.”, said by MP Atty. Maisara
