CARE FOR ORPHANS PUBLIC CONSULTATION IN AID OF LEGISLATION IN BASILAN
June 29, 2021| The Office of Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph in partnership with The Asia Foundation and Australian Aid conducted its fourth “CARE FOR ORPHANS PUBLIC CONSULTATION IN AID OF LEGISLATION” in Querexeta Formation Center, 10cp Garcia Isabela City, Basilan.
(19) attendees were able to participate in the said consultation. They represent different Organizations/Institutions, and Offices/Ministries such as: Basilan State College, Office of MP Hatimil Hasan, Lamitan City Madaris, Ulama Supreme Council, Mahad Sumisip Al-Arabie Al-Islamie, Makamus Sar-Ih, Magpatulahad Basilan, Kalukbanan Kasambuhan Organization, CBCS Basilan, Save the Children, MSSD Basilan, Ministry of Health, Basilan School Division, Office of MP Faiz S. Alauddin, Yakan City Committee MILF, Hafizul Qur-an, Addirasatul Islamia CSO, Madrasah Jehra and BWIF.
The consultation aims to know more about issues, problems, gaps and challenges of the orphans and for them to suggest any recommendations/solutions to the BARMM government.
This is also in support to the BTA Parliament Bill No. 71, or the Bangsamoro Orphanage Act 2020, and to gather any inputs, suggestions, and amendments to improve the Bill.
The consultation includes the (2) discussions. The first discussion was about “Children of War: A Rapid Needs Assessment of Orphans in Muslim Mindanao” that was presented by Sir Hadzer Birowa, Children of War Study Researcher. The second discussion was about BTA Parliament Bill No. 71 or the Bangsamoro Orphanage Act 2020 which was presented by Atty. Alexine Bangcola, Legal Researcher of MP Atty. Maisara Latiph.
And the last part of the session is the signing of the partners and the stakeholders in the “MANIFESTATION OF SUPPORT IN THE BANGSAMORO ORPHANAGE ACT 2020”.
