Discussion with MP Atty. Maisara Dandamun Latiph of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority with Diamla Walid Pangcoga, Assistant to Mayor Alfattah Pacalna of Tugaya and Jamael Sarip on strengthening literacy and reading in Bangsomoro Autonomous Regions of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). We need to develop more reading centers as well as create more content in vernacular languages. You will see more Book Nooks in the area in addition our existing sites in Mindanao including Davao, Tagum, Gen San, Lake Sebu, Koronadal, Upi, South Upi, Tugaya, Jose Abad Santos, South Ubian, Sitangkai etc. Private publishers are also creating more content in our languages, but we still need more writers and illustrators willing to do the work. How can we empower our children to love books when they don’t see themselves in the storybooks they read?
