JUNE 8–9, 2022| Bangsamoro Transition Authority Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph participated in the Workshop on the Development of the Blue Ribbon Committee’s Internal Rules of Procedures, commonly known as the Committee on Good Government, Accountability, and Investigations, conducted by the Policy, Research, and Legal Services (PRLS) Division, in collaboration with BTA Parliament Majority Floor Leader and Chairperson of the Blue Ribbon Committee, Atty. Lanang T. Ali, Jr.
This event was sponsored by Support for Bangsamoro Transition (SUBATRA), a European Union-funded development partner.
The Blue Ribbon Committee’s primary responsibility is to investigate charges of office malfeasance, misfeasance, and nonfeasance.
The PRLS presented the draft of the Internal Rules of Procedure and discussed its value and legal grounds throughout the session.
Apart from the Presidential Blue Ribbon Committee and its internal regulations, PRLS also provided data and analysis on the Parliamentary Public Petitions Committee, which was defined as a venue for the public to participate in the Bangsamoro Government’s policy-making and legislative operations.
The creation of the Petitions Committee was spurred by the introduction of the Petitions Committee. PRLS proposed three solutions during the workshop: (1) expanding the Blue Ribbon Committee by adding petition committee functions; (2) disbanding the Blue Ribbon Committee and replacing it with a Petition Committee; and (3) having both but keeping them separate. They intend to conduct more studies.
