Ranao Development Authority is about Meranao’s Ancestral Domain. Its protection. Its preservation. It’s about our care, our concern. As Meranao, Lake Lanao defines our identity, our heritage, and who we are as a people. As for me, fighting for our collective rights to protect our Ancestral Domain at this very moment, it seems so steep, so hard, and so tiring (because it is 3 years already).
Surely, there is legitimacy in asserting the protection of our ancestral domain, Lake Lanao. We succeeded in including “internal waters” in the BOL. And felt strong about it during Senate and Bicameral hearing.
Now, this bill is an enabling law. I hope that it matters. I mean Lake Lanao, our Ancestral Domain matters. If it does not what is the relevancy of an institution to Meranao People if our identity do not matter? What will be the legitimacy of that institution to the Meranao People?”
Said Member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph appealing for the passage of BTA Bill No. 32 or Ranaw Development Authority Act.
