After discussing 32 proposed legislative measures referred to the Bangsamoro Transition Authority’s Committee on Health, a total of 12 resolutions and seven committee reports were approved by the Committee today, May 24.
Among the measures approved at the committee level were resolutions requiring the Ministry of Health (MOH) to present an overall plan on the establishment and upgrading of hospitals; establishing a Hemodialysis Center in BARMM; subsidizing and absorbing affected employees of the DOH memorandum No. 22-02 dated January 5, 2022, decreasing the number of slots of Human Resource for Health under the National Health Workforce Support System for 2022; implementing its frontline services through the Rural Health Units; establishing a mental health crisis helpline for the Bangsamoro; encouraging the local government units in the region to intensify their efforts in advocating and monitoring COVID-19 vaccination; increasing the financial assistance of barangay health workers; and urging the MOH and Ministry of Public Works to rehabilitate and repair selected priority barangay health centers.
They also approved resolutions urging the Bangsamoro Inter-Agency Task Force on COVID-19 in close coordination with LGUs to study and recommend protocols for the creation of a Unified Vaccination Database System for COVID-19 vaccinated individuals and a measure requesting the Bangsamoro Government to provide a monthly allowance to medical frontliners working in the region.
The committee will also hold public consultations on several bills related to upgrading and creating hospitals, Bangsamoro Medical School, Bangsamoro Council for Mental Health, and Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center. (LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
