MP Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph and her staff were invited to a meeting by The Asia Foundation to discuss her proposed bill, BTA Bill 71, The Bangsamoro Orphanage Act of 2020 which would establish orphanages in the Bangsamoro Region. She also discussed the results of the Care for Orphans public consultation conducted by the office last March 20, 2021.
Her Chief of Staff Atty. Abduljabbar Guro presented the key provisions of BTA Bill 71, while Sector Representative for Orphans and Children, Ms. Hana Yusoph presented the results of the consultation and the programs the office has conducted catered for orphans.
Representatives from The Asia Foundation lauded the initiative coming from the office, and offered their support, while exploring possibilities of conducting public consultations on issues affecting orphans in other areas in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
