PRESS RELEASE | ONLINE PETITION FOR PRESIDENT DUTERTE TO CERTIFY THE
EXTENSION BILL AS URGENT HITS 965,632 SIGNATURES! 34,368 LEFT TO REACH 1 MILLION
The CSO Movement for Moral Governance and the Mindanao Peoples Caucus are happy to announce that the Online Petition requesting President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, to certify as urgent the extension bills in Congress, has already gathered 965,632 signatures as of 7:50 am.
“We need 34,368 votes to reach our target 1 Million signatures. The support of the netizens is massive and overwhelming and we are confident that we will be able to achieve our target in the coming days.” Atty. Hanan Romanda-Kahalan of the CSO-MMG said.
Signature signing in every Barangay in Maguindanao, North, Cotabato, Sarangani and South Cotabato is ongoing and will reach out to as many residents as possible.
Datu Cesar Pabro, from the Arumanen Manuvu tribe and Council Member of MPC, has already signed up the online Petition and has invited the members of his tribe to also support. “The Bangsamoro is not only for the Moro people. It also serves the interest and welfare of the non-Moro Indigenous Peoples like us here in Carmen. We need to extend the transition so that the BARMM will be able to uplift the lives of the people and normalize the situation in war-torn areas”, Datu Pabro, said.
The organizers of this campaign are closely monitoring its website – www.barmm4all2025 and will inform the public regularly on the progress of the 1Million countdown. As soon as it reaches a million signatories, the Petition will be formally submitted to the Office of the President by a delegation of community leaders from the various provinces in the BARMM.
We appeal to the public to continue campaigning for this Petition and to encourage your friends, colleagues and loved ones to join the call for President Duterte to certify the extension bill as URGENT. The online Petition started last February 10, 2021 humbly requesting the President to certify the extension bills for the transition period in the Bangsamoro as URGENT considering the very limited session days in Congress before it adjourns sine die on June 4, 2021.
