5th Runner-Up, Growing Seed of Hope Photography Contest

If there is one positive thing that happened to me during this crisis, that would be realizing my long time dream of having my own self-sustaining home garden. Since I started, it kept me physically and mentally occupied. It inspired me and helped me focus on the positive things depsite the worry of hearing devastating news of what covid-19 has brought the world.

They say, “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow”. Indeed it’s true especially during this time of crisis. Life is not the way how they were. That’s why, even though i only have a little knowledge about gardening, i still did my best. I started making my own organic compost, building garden bed and recycling kitchen utensils as gardening tools. It was really hard at fist but with my wife, kids and neighbors’ support, it was one of the best decisions I made. That feeling you get when the seed you have planted has grown and is now ready to harvest is really satisfying.

I am a photographer by profession and this unfortunate situation has affected my business drastically. It was frustrating but at the same time I’m glad because I was given a chance to experience and enjoy nature. It was the kind of meditation I need to relieve the stress from being a lifestyle and event photographer.
