2020 NUTRITION MONTH MESSAGE

August 08, 2020

To my fellow Bangsamoro, Happy 46th Nutrition Month Celebration!

Amidst the unprecedented hardships brought about by Covid-19 pandemic, our Public Health Emergency has extremely disturbed the lives of every Filipino individual and families. This significantly limit our access to health, goods and services, thus placing our people especially our newborns and young children more at risk of malnutrition.

This year’s theme “Batang Pinoy, SANA TALL… Iwas Stunting, SAMA ALL” focus on catalyzing activities to address child stunting. Stunting (Tagalog term means pagkabansot) especially in the first 1000 days of life of the child is irreversible. It has dangerous effects for the individual and society; ranging from low education performance, increase risk of non-communicable illness later in life and loss of productivity.

As we celebrate the 46th nutrition month celebration, I appeal to our government, mothers and frontline health and nutrition workers to continue our struggles in fighting this battle especially in this time of crisis. I also commend our front liners for their invaluable contribution to saving the precious lives of our children and our people amidst Covid-19.

Sa lahat ng mga ahensya at sektor na patuloy nating katuwang sa pagsusulong ng wastong nutrisyon, maraming-maraming salamat at mabuhay po kayo!
