On June 30, 2022, Fifty (50) Women from Dumpsite Area in Brgy. Papandayan, Caniogan Marawi City has officially received starter tool kit such as Sewing Machine and other equipment for dressmaking trainees; and Oven and baking equipment for Bread and Pastry Making trainees.
The distribution is part of the Siyap ko Mga Bae: A Training for Sustainable Livelihood Program on Dressmaking and Bread and Pastry Production NCII that was conducted by the office of BTA Member Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development-Lanao del Sur, Ministry of Social Services and Development, Provincial/City Manpower Development Center, and Bangsamoro Transition Authority-Gender and Development.
The training was implemented through blended classes; face-to-face and online classes and participants were provided with a travel allowance, a PPE allowance, and internet allowances.
Participants are also expected to receive PHP 15,000 in starter capital from the Ministry of Social Services and Development through the Sagip Kabuhayan Program. This will be awarded after their assessment.
During his message, MP Maisara said that “Sa pakikipagtulongan natin sa BTA-GAD, MBHTE-TESD at MSSD, ay nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na makapag-aral ng Dressmaking at Bread and Pastry sa TESD ang ating napiling limampong (50) beneficiary ng libre at may kasama pang transportation allowance, load allowance at iba pa. Kabilang pa dito’y makakatanggap sila ng tool kits tulad ng sewing machine o oven at 15,000 pesos na start-up capital.”
“Labis akong natutuwa sapagkat dumating na din ang araw na ating pinakakahintay. Yan ay ang maibigay sa inyo ang inyong mga tool kits. Mahabang panahon man tayong naghintay, marami man tayong prosesong pinagdaanan at sinubok man tayo ng sari-saring batikos, Alhamdulillah at humantong din tayo sa araw na ito.” She Added.
This project aims to empower vulnerable women in the Dumpsite Area of Papandayan, Marawi City by providing training on dressmaking and bread and pastry making to give them more livelihood opportunities.
This program was designed to help them achieve financial independence and security by strengthening them by building skills and resources for making a living and seeking funding and technical support from its partners.
MP Maisara also said that “Hangad ko na sana’y makatulong sa inyo ang mga tool kits na ibibigay namin sa araw-araw ninyong pamumuhay. Ang Bangsamoro Government at ang aking opisina ay patuloy na susuporta sa mga programang makakatulong sa mga vulnerable na sector ng Bangsamoro. Nawa’y gabayan tayo lagi ni Allah sa ating mga adhikain.”
