June 22, 2022| The office of Member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament, Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph, in partnership with Support to Bangsamoro Transition, conducted a Sectoral Consultation for the formulation of a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Legislative Agenda for 2022–2025.
Attendees are representatives from LMWOI-BWAB, Sigay-No Mga Babay, WORMD, MPOS, PCSS-BTA, MSSD RO, Settler, Radyo Gandingn, MBHTE Madaris, WORMD-IP, MILG, BWC, SWC, PNP PRO BAR, LUKC, UN Women, PNP, among others.
GESI aims to level off and prepare the MPs and key staff for the Gender and Sectoral Consultations and Caucus Formation and Agenda Workshop. develop a GESI legislative agenda informed and influenced by relevant sectorsPresent the GESI legislative agenda to the BARMM government, media, and general public and also to the new PH administration; and formalize a GESI caucus through a draft bill.
During her opening message, MP Maisara Said that “Ang layunin ng programa na ito ay upang mapaigting ang usaping pangkapayapaan sa pagbibigay ng pantay na oportunidad sa mga kababaihan.”
“Sa kadahilanang nabigyan tayo ng pagkakataon na mapalawak pa ang transition period dito sa BARMM, kinakailangan din na tayong lahat ay magtulongan upang makamit natin ang moral governance na pamamalakad sa ating rehiyon.” She added.
During the workshop, participants were able to recommend legislative actions for each of the identified sectoral issues. They are grouped into sectors such as GBV and Early/Forced Marriage; Education; Peace and Security/Violent Conflicts/Disaster and Displacement; Youth, Children, and Orphans; Poverty; Economic Interventions; Food Security and Nutrition; Increasing Women’s Capacity and Participation in Development and Inclusion of BWAB in BARMM; Media/Digital Inclusion; Maternal/Child/Newborn Health and Teenage Pregnancy; Drugs and Crimes; and Settlers.
