The Journey of an On the Job Trainee: How I Found My Calling

June 07, 2022

SHARING OF INSIGHTS, LEARNINGS AND EXPERIENCES OF THE ON THE JOB TRAINEES DURING THEIR CULMINATION PROGRAM

Honestly, I am still in awe how things happened so fast. Everything seems so vivid that I can even still recall the pressure we felt during those times when we’re still looking for an agency to apply.

Despite the pressure and the “hopelessness” I tell myself that I need to find an agency that will help me grow holistically. An office that will introduce me to the real world. A working environment that will mold me to become ready for the future. Thankfully, I found the office of MP atty. Maisara.

Last night we were informed to deliver a speech in front to all of you here highlighting our experiences for the month of May. I was taken aback. Ano nga ba yung ginawa namin nitong May? To be honest nahirapan ako kasi sobrang bilis ng panahon nitong nakaraang buwan. It was like, in just a snap, June na agad. All I can recall is that we spent the whole month of May being so dramatic in everything we do. We went to Masiu for the medical mission and we were like “uy last na natin to galingan mo! “or nagtutuksohan who will miss who things like that. Last day we went to brgy papandayan. And ito na naman tayo sa reminiscing. Parang kelan lang nung si mam hasana and mam hana pa nagsusuot samin ng veil. Parang kelan lang nung nag submit kami ng endorsement letter dito tapos a week after nag orientation tayo then, the rest is history. Everything went too fast. Mamimiss nyo po ba kami? Kasi kami po mamimiss po namin kayo lahat. Yung mga afternoon chikahan sessions natin. Lahat po talaga.

Others say we’re too lucky to find an office that offers allowance to their trainees. They envy us, they say. While it is true that the office helped us too in terms of financial aspects, what made us luckier is that we found a family in you. We’re so grateful and forever will be that you accepted us, embraced us despite of our differences. Tasks seemed so easy to do because we never felt pressured. We never feel tired because we feel your support towards us in every single step of the way. Di na nga kami nagbibilang ng araw kasi sobrang nag eenjoy na kami sa trabaho namin.

To sir Jam. Sir, the first thing that I’ll surely miss in the office is your jokes. Don’t ever think that we’re just forced to laugh because you are our boss because that’s not true sir. What I liked about sir Jam is that, you are respected not because you tell us to respect you. Rather, we respect you because you deserved it. We appreciate everything that you did to connect with us, sir. Your leadership skills made me wonder how amazing you are as a leader. And that, we are so honored to be working with you.

And to the person who first accommodated me in the office. To sir Sam, I want to thank you sir for considering us and accepting our application. We won’t be here today if it weren’t because of you. To all your efforts in mentoring us, and to all those jokes you throw at us that we’re not even sure if you’re serious or just messing around. Thank you, sir.

To sir iking, the person whom I sent all my queries about the office when we’re just at the verge of agency hunting. Sorry if I did it in a very informal way but, I’m so thankful that you answered all my queries. You are really fun to be with, sir. Diko man nasaksihan ang journey mo, I want you to know that I am so proud of what you have become now.

To sir johar, who answered all our technical queries. In other words, tinuruan kami pano e operate yung printer. Salamat po sir.

To sir Lance. Of course, who would forget our Pagayawan experience? Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to personally experience the struggles of being an advocate, one thing I can say is that, all the struggles are worth it. Thank you so much sir for doing that for the community. We appreciate you, sir.

To ma’am Laini for the words of wisdom. Kahit nahihiya po kami sainyo mam. I hope that u know na we really want to To be with u po as much as we can. To ma’am queenie,, maam lovely and mam raihanna who stands as an ate and a mother to all of us. Thank you for your sincerity ma’am. We appreciate your thoughtfulness towards us. To ma’am Hasni, ma’am Hana, ma’am sahanie, to my very pretty supervisor mam hasana, to mam chin, sir fahad, sir rafael and sir gaffor, Thank you for teaching us to always comply and follow rules. For all your teachings, for guiding us all through out our 600 hrs journey. We’re so thankful that we found friendship in all of you. We found family in you. We never felt the superiority which we’re really grateful of. Having a very down to earth co-workers like you all matters to us the most. You all showed us that having a healthy working environment is a great contributor for being a productive employee. Working with all of you is the best perk for this job.

And of course to Ma’am MP. Although I haven’t had the chance to be mentored by you per se. There’s a lot I learned from you by just watching you work. The way you organize your things to the way you deal with.
