June 2, 2022| Fifteen (15) returnees from the Municipality of Lumbaca Unayan received basic gardening training, materials, equipment, and supplies from Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform and coordination with the Local Government Unit of the said Municipality.
Growing Seeds of Hope is a flagship program of the office of MP Maisara that advocates for ensuring food and nutrition security in the nation as it is one of our greatest challenges in this trying time.
This is in response to the clamor of the returnees during the consultation component of the Piecetahanan program conducted last April in the holy month of Ramadhan that they should be given training on basic gardening and be provided tools to start and secure their food.
Each participant is provided proper guidance from experts from MAFAR and resources like vegetable seeds and other gardening tools.
The LGU Lumbaca Unayan, through its representative, expressed that they are very grateful for the help that they received from the Bangsamoro Government through the implementing office.
They also cited that this program is timely and essential for the returnees because most of them are farmers and it will support them to become productive members of society.
This is also to celebrate the Philippine Environment Month which is expected to pilot on June 5, 2022 as we believe that gardening is climate-resilient agriculture.
As of writing, the growing seed of hope is the 4th activity that was conducted in the said municipality.
