April 19-22, 2022| The Office of Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph through its IDP Sectoral Advocacy initiated series of Women’s Islamic Seminars to the Internally Displaced Persons in selected IDP Shelters in Lanao del Sur and Lanao del Norte.
The said Women’s Islamic Seminar dubbed as Ramadhan For IDPeace: So kapakalintad o kawyagoyag is in line with the observance of Ramadhan as a Holy Month for the Muslims around the world.
This seminar aims to enlighten the IDP participants on the importance of patience in Islam and its reward.
The invited resource person was Ustad Mohammad Hashim Morales. He gave lectures on how good deeds during Ramadhan can be accepted from an Islamic Perspective.
This was conducted in series at 4 different temporary shelters:
April 19, 2022 – Bakwit Village Phase I at Matunggao Lanao del Norte
April 20, 2022 – Bahay Pag-Asa, Mipaga, Marawi City
April 21, 2022 – Bakwit Village Phase II at Saguiaran Lanao del Sur
April 22, 2022 – Boganga Shelter at Marawi City
The program highlighted Forgiveness (Kaprerelai) among IDP participants in which those who have conflicts settled their issues and bring back the love and friendship with each other.
During the implementation, IDPs were also allowed to share their current challenges, issues, and concerns in their respective shelter. This focused on issues such as the Status of the Shelter, Health, Livelihood, and access to Education.
Recommendations were also gathered from the participating IDPs.
After the event, each of the participants received a gift which is a mokna set (prayer garment) that they can use in the remaining days of Ramadhan and during the celebration of Eid’l Fitr.
