March 26, 2022 | Member of the Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun – Latiph attended on the 6th National Women’s Summit: Women Transforming Politics and the 2022 Elections that organized by the Marriam College – Women Gender Institute (WAGI) held on March 25-26, 2022 via Zoom Teleconference.
MP Latiph was invited as one of the Speakers in Panel 4: Transformative Women Leaders: How Are they Navigating Traditional Politics?
MP Latiph stressed “With the women’s competence and wisdom to lead, it is my humble submission that with consistent, undaunted, focused, and united effort to support women leaders, and to push for gender equality, we will be unstoppable.”
In addition, MP Latiph stated “Promoting women’s representation in elected bodies allows them to contribute to development and nation-building, and ensure that governance leads to equal access to resources and to development results and outcomes for both women and men, girls and boys.”
Furthermore, MP Latiph said that “We cannot deny the empirical reality that women globally and nationally continue to be excluded or underrepresented in all areas of political and economic decision making. Indeed, Gender inequality remains a pervasive and fundamental obstacle to human development and the guarantee of universal human rights.”
“As a former member of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission – which is the body authorized to come up with a draft of the Bangsamoro Basic Law and the Bangsamoro Organic Law, together with my colleagues, we ensured that there be a provision providing for sectoral representatives – ensuring that women will have a voice in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.” She added
