The Bangsamoro Parliament’s Health Committee has conducted a series of public discussions throughout Lanao del Sur’s various municipalities on many suggested policies targeted at building and renovating hospitals in the province.

Dr. Serapio B. Montaner Memorial Hospital (DSBMMH) in Malabang town will be upgraded from Level I to Level II, with a capacity of 100 beds, and Tamparan District Hospital will be converted into a provincial hospital with a capacity of 150 beds, based on Parliament Bill Nos. 75 and 99.

Under PB No. 102, the Balindong Municipal Hospital will be renovated from a first-level institution with a 10-bed capacity to a second-level hospital with a 50-bed capacity.

Meanwhile, BTA Bill Nos. 96 and 114 call for the construction of 50 and ten-bed first-level hospitals in the municipalities of Masiu and Tugaya, respectively.

MP Latiph, one of the authors of the Proposed bills, said that the establishment of a municipal hospital in Tugaya town would decongest Amai Pakpak Medical Center as residents need not go to Marawi City to attend to their medical needs.

Tamparan, Masiu, Balindong, Tugaya, and Malabang hosted the week-long public consultation.
