The office of Member of Parliament Atty Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph attended the public consultation on BTA Bill No. 114, which will establish a municipal hospital in Tugaya, Lanao del Sur, hosted by the Committee on Health.
The proposed bill, authored by MPs Dr. Zul Qarneyn Abas and Atty. Maisara Dandamun-Latiph, proposes to build a first-level, 10-bed capacity general hospital to be known as Tugaya Municipal Hospital.
The said Hospital will be administered by the Ministry of Health, which is hereby permitted to define and approve the appropriate organizational structure for the hospital’s management and operations.
MP Latiph believes that the development of a municipal hospital in Tugaya will reduce the number of locals who travel to Marawi City for medical care.
The creation of these hospitals, according to Member of Parliament Dr. Safrullah Dipatuan, chair of the Committee on Health, will increase access to healthcare services and medical needs for the people of Lanao del Sur.
Representatives from Academe, Traditional and Religious Leaders, and Local Government officials manifested their support in the project and appealed to the Bangsamoro Government to upgrade the no. of bed capacity from 10 to 25 as it won’t be sufficient to cater to the needs of the municipality and neighboring community.
