We are grateful to His Excellency, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, for signing Republic Act 11593, a measure that moves the first regular e lections of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao from 2022 to 2025.
The enactment of this law, which also extends the interim government’s mandate, is a clear manifestation of the national government’s sincere desire to help our people secure the gains of the peace process and prepare them as stewards on the road towards peace and development.
This law is not a reward for those in positions of power. Neither is it political leverage that can be used to influence the outcome of the upcoming national elections.
It is a strong vote of confidence in the people and leaders who administer the BARMM bureaucracy. It is a stamp of approval for our efforts, indicating that we have done our
wry best to improve the quality of life of the Bangsamoro people.
Today, let us celebrate our victory and prepare for tomorrow and the days ahead, as there is still much to be done
