The Government of the Day welcomes the passage of SB No. 2214 in the Senate.
By extending the transition period – the BTA gets ample time to finish the job and make sure that the next regional officials will work under a system that befits the realities of the Bangsamoro and responds to the changing times.
We thank our dear partners: Senate President Vicente Sotto III, Majority Leader Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, Minority Floor Leader Sen. Franklin Drilon, Senators Koko Pimentel and Richard Gordon for filing the bill, Sen. Francis Tolentino for graciously sponsoring and defending SB No. 2214, and to Senators Angara, Binay, Cayetano, Dela Rosa, Gatchalian, Hontiveros, Pangilinan, Poe, Revilla, and Villar for believing in the Bangsamoro cause.
The extension for three more years gives us a better chance for healing, for rebuilding, and for setting the future of the Bangsamoro. Like the gains of the peace process, this is not only a victory for the Bangsamoro, but for the whole Philippines.
