Youth Advocate’s Summit In Celebration Of International Youth Day 2021

August 12, 2021| The Office of Member of Parliament Atty. Maisara C. Dandamun-Latiph joins the International Youth Day (IYD) by championing youth initiatives and Advocacy through its Youth Advocates Summit with a theme: “Celebrating our Youth’s Journey in Advocacy Work”.

This was held at Mindanao State University Institute of Peace and Development in Mindanao (MSU-IPDM), Convergence Hall.

Around (70) youth advocates from (12) Youth Organizations and Youth-Serving Organizations in Lanao del Sur such as Alshabab Alhalimun, Philippine Youth Leadership Program (PYLP) Ranaw, Sugod 1 Islamic Youth Movement (SIYM), Alfauz Al imanie, Saguisaga a Ranaw, Hijab for a Cause, Pilumbayan, Youth ACTS, Moriatao o Ranaw, Butig Youth Movement for Peace (BYMP) and Inspired Young Optimists Guild (IYOG) participated in the said summit.

IYD is celebrated annually every August 12 of each year.

It is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the youth efforts as one of the key actors in nation-building.

This years’ IYD is dubbed with the theme “Transforming Food System: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health”.

This program aims to recognize the youth organizations’ participation and achievement in nation-building through advocacy works; Provide youth organizations a venue to share their unique experiences and learn from each other from their journey in advocacy works; Bring together youth partners advocate to share best practices in their advocacy works, and Strengthen the youth advocates in their ongoing works that will lead to teamwork and sustain networking activities.

Participating Organizations were allowed to showcase their advocacies and achievements through Booth Exhibition.

During the event, a presentation on the Importance of Advocacy was delivered by Sittie Ai’shah Baicon  B. Cayongcat.

Part of the said activity is the provision of a cash grant worth Php 10,000 for each youth organization in recognition of their efforts and accepting the challenge of being a change maker from the said office.

In attendance was Hon. Arsalan A. Diamaoden, Commissioner of Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC), as the guest of honor. Serving as the board of judges were Johaniah N. Yusoph, Prof. Wendel T. Lontua, and Prof. Hanan T. Khabab.
